Nigeria music just got hotter

I stole this info from Bella. It’s the 2010 line up for hip-hop awards. I have a few notes on each category and as I have either been insulted by strangers’ because of my opinions on Nigeria music or out rightly been told to stay away from 9ja music, I feel I am in a position to say something about this particularly interesting line up this year. I now present to you obi-talker’s view on the 2010 HHWA (theatrical announcement applies):

According to Bella, “Last year, the nominees list for the Hip Hop World Awards (HHWA) caused a barrage of controversy. This year, the organizers of the event have reviewed the nomination and voting process.”

I have no idea what this people are talking about, maybe I was just not interested in music last year or I couldn’t be bothered with….wait-o, I know what happened. I didn’t even have a blog then.

The nominees for this year goes as follows sha

Two albums interest me here. The first been Wande Coal’s mushin2mohits which I did a post dedicated to this fab album. It wasn’t praised by all and frankly my few posts rarely do but this signifies that I knew what I was talking about then. Point one. And if you feel this post is about self glorification of my skills to identify a winner in the 9ja music scene you are not far from the truth either.

The second album that catches my interest is P-square’s danger, which landed me in hot soup on another blog and I spoke about here. I knew it was a winner from the word 'go' and yes I have nothing to say about the other two … sorry three albums, except may the best album win.

‘Note that only music material released into the Nigerian market between December 2008 and November 2009 are eligible for nomination for Hip-Hop World Awards 2010.’

This is where all the confusion ends as they have explained what timeline this music reflects. I excluded some categories in the list above. I didn’t see the relevance in my life or on this blog, but you can get the full list here, which is where I stole the info from in the first place. And I didn’t comment on every category because ‘is it by force?!’ that I must say something about all of them. If I don’t have anything to say I will just close my laptop-na.

9ice is so missing from this list and how come some musicians are popular but they don’t even make it like ‘tha suspect’

I can’t answer my own questions but I can say hopefully no one will hate on this post.
